The Justice-involved Young People (JYP) network is a thematic collective space bringing together people concerned with issues of justice – big and small – that children and young people face in and around Victoria, Australia. We are based at the University of Melbourne but embrace people of all ages, areas and forms of expertise. If you are or have ever been young, you’re welcome!
We acknowledge we work and live on Kulin Country, including the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunurong/Boon Wurrung Peoples where the University stands. We pay respect to the Elders of these communities, past and present. We honour the ancestors who’ve taken care of this land for thousands of generations, and the custodians who continue to look after the earth, sea, rivers, creeks and waterways, and all the birds and animals who belong here, along with us humans. We have a big responsibility to look after each other – and to look after this place we all share – to make it a place we all belong to.
The purpose of our JYP Network is to connect people working with or for young people, to share ideas and perspectives, to work together to build new knowledge and skills, and to imagine new possibilities in the world we share. We welcome you all – academics and researchers, policymakers, practitioners and service providers, community-based organisations and groups, advocates, and – of course – young people, families and community members. You can join us by adding your name to our mailing list here. (We won’t send any spam!)
It takes a long time to become young.
